Maureen Crofts Cornwall Artist

Cornwall Artist Maureen Crofts

Entirely self-taught as an artist Maureen Crofts has been painting for over 25 years. She was trained as a primary school teacher, but since moving to Cornwall with her husband and young family, she has painted in her studio which overlooks the beach at her home in Perranporth Cornwall.

Her favourite medium has always been watercolour, but for the last few years she has been producing highly detailed graphites of animals and children, which are extremely popular with collectors. Maureen loves trying to capture light, movement and atmosphere in her work.

Maureen sells her artwork in galleries in St Ives, Padstow and other galleries around Cornwall, Yorkshire and Derbyshire.

Her exhibitions have raised over £5000 for various charities including Macmillan Cancer Care, the Samaritans, Guide Dogs for the Blind and Perranporth Surf Life Saving Club. Until the end of December 2014 Maureen is holding a sale of paintings from her home in aid of Children's Hospice South West. In support of this very worthy cause Maureen has already raised over £1500.

Last year she was elected as a member of the Birmingham Watercolour Society and has sold paintings at their exhibitions. She is also a member of The Wildlife Art Society International.
