If you are looking for things to do in Cornwall try visiting the beautiful donkeys and ponies at the Flicka Foundation at Mabe Burnthouse near Falmouth.  The Foundation welcomes visitors and is open all year round.  Set in the beautiful Cornish countryside, not far from Falmouth it’s well worth a visit and makes a great family day out in Cornwall!

Days out in Cornwall the Flicka FoundationThis is your chance to get up close to the donkeys (and possibly see a baby donkey) and the other rescued animals living at the farm.  It’s so lovely to see them enjoying the fields or their warm stalls and basking in the care and attention they are now receiving.  You can even arrange a personal guided tour, or join one of the organised ones.  Free parking is available.

The Sanctuary works tirelessly to rescue and give homes to horses and donkeys (and sometimes other animals!) in, often desperate, need and you can show your support by paying them a visit and making a donation.

The Flicka Foundation Horse and Donkey Sanctuary in Cornwall was foundedMerlin and Joey at the Flicka Foundation days out in Cornwall in 1995 by Mary Berryman, who sadly is no longer with us. Judy, her daughter, and Laurie continue with the Flicka legacy that Mary left.

When you do visit please remember that the horses and donkeys take up a lot of time, although staff will do their best to give you as much time as they can. The Flicka Foundation doesn’t charge an entrance fee but would be very grateful for a donation – every little helps.  If you would like someone to take you round and talk about the horses and donkeys and their history then contact them before your visit and this will happily be arranged, a small charge will be made for the charity.
