Cawsand Cornwall

Small sheltered east facing sand and shingle beach in South East Cornwall with rock pools and inlets for children to play in. Popular with families. Parking nearby. Toilets. Sailing and canoe hire in season. There is a range of activities available in Cawsand and nearby Kingsand including locating the ancient county border. Dogs are welcome on this beach except between Easter Sunday and 30 September when a seasonal dog ban is in place.

Charlestown Cornwall

Sandy beach near to the harbour in the centre of Charlestown. Nice views of the boats coming and going from the harbour. Good facilities in Charlestown with plenty of places for food and drink. Park in one of the Charlestown car parks and walk. Nice beach to visit and combine with a day in Charlestown Cornwall For some reason dogs are never allowed on this beach in Cornwall, not even in winter.

Fowey Cornwall

Readymoney Cove is a south east facing sandy cove with beach overlooking the Fowey Estuary. It is a short walk from the centre of the beautiful harbour town of Fowey Cornwall. It is sheltered by cliffs close to the mouth of the River Fowey Estuary and bounded on one side by the medieval part of Fowey and on the other by St Catherine's Castle. The beach is cleaned daily during high season and there is a bathing platform moored in the bay. In addition to sand the beach is also good for rock pooling. There is no lifeguard on duty. Dogs are welcome on this beach for much of the year but there is a seasonal dog ban in place from Easter Sunday until 30 September. Beach car park 5 minutes walk away.

Gorran Haven

Vault beach is reached by a considerable walk either along the coast path from Gorran Haven or the footpath from Lamlefra. You can park at either of these places. Vault beach is a pretty sandy cove scattered with rocks near to Dodman Point. Due to the secluded location it is usually a quiet beach. Vault is a dog friendly beach and allows dogs all year.

Gorran Haven

Porthluney Beach is next to Caerhays Castle in Cornwall. Some call this Caerhays Beach and some Porthluney Beach. This is a beautiful large sandy beach at low tide with plenty of space. There are cliffs to either side and you can see Caerhays Castle behind the beach and when facing the sea have Dodman point to the left and Gulls Rock and Nare head to the right. Parking is at Carehays Castle. Porthluney is a dog friendly beach in Cornwall and dogs are allowed all year.

Hemmick Beach is a beautiful golden sandy south facing cove of a reasonable size backed by cliffs. In order to access Hemmick you have to walk along a footpath through fields or along narrow lanes from the National Trust car park at Penare. Hemmick is a dog friendly beach in Cornwall and allows dogs all year.

Looe area Cornwall

Kingsand is a sandy beach in South East Cornwall with patches of rock and rock pools backed by a wall and pretty coloured cottages. It is now part of the Mount Edgcumbe Country Park as is its neighbouring beach Cawsand. Set about 16 miles from Looe there is a carpark in the village which also has shops, cafes and pubs as well as toilets (unsure of opening times). Kingsand hit the news in 2014 when the horrendous storms damaged the lovely clock which stood on the edge of the beach. Kingsand has lovely views over Plymouth Strand and in peak season a ferry runs from Cawsand beach to Plymouth. Kingsand is a dog friendly beach in Cornwall all year and does not have seasonal dog restrictions.

Looe Cornwall

Seaton Beach is a large sand and pebble beach located at the mouth of the River Seaton a few miles from Looe. Popular with families, facilities are good with a beach cafe, Seaton Sand Stores, The Smugglers Inn and toilets. Seaton Beach is a dog friendly beach all year. Popular for sailing, surfing and shore fishing. From Seaton (at low tide but beware of the risk of being cut off) you can walk along the beach to nearby Downderry beach - another dog friendly beach. Downderry Beach is a sand and shingle beach next to the village of Downderry and on the coast path. Dogs are allowed on this beach all year and you can walk from here to Seaton Beach (low tide but beware of the risk of being cut off) which is another dog friendly beach. The Inn on The Shore pub is in the village. The beach is used by walkers, for fishing, windsurfing and swimming. Read more about Looe Cornwall

Hannafore Beach is about a mile from West Looe. A sand and shingle beach with rock pools and a dog friendly beach all year. Facilities in West Looe. Read abour Looe Cornwall

Looe Cornwall

Plaidy Beach is a small sandy beach backed by steep cliffs near to Looe in Cornwall. There are sections of rock on the beach, rock pools and large concrete steps to the back. Best visited at mid to low tide as at high tide very little of the beach is left. Facilities are in Looe which is about a mile away on the Coast Path. There are no facilities at the beach and car parking is limited., park at Looe or Millendreath. (the wak from either direction is very steep in places). Plaidy Beach is a dog friendly beach in Cornwall all year, there are no seasonal dog restrictions.

Looe Cornwall

Sand beach backed by the harbor wall and large stone steps which people enjoy sitting on. Looe beach is in the centre of East Looe near the lifeboat station and has good facilities with cafes, take aways and toilets nearby. We don't think there is parking near Looe beach, park in the main Looe car parks and walk, although you maybe able to drive quite close to drop someone off. Nice beach to visit and combine with a day out in Looe Cornwall For some reason dogs are never allowed on this beach in Cornwall, not even in winter.

Mevagissey Cornwall

Gorran Haven is a small harbour village with cluster of fisherman's cottages bordering an east facing sand and shingle beach. Popular with families. Set just outside Mevagissey. Toilets and cafe. Not lifeguarded. Dog friendy beach all year although dogs must be kept on leads.

Mevagissey Cornwall

Polstreath beach near Mevagissey is accessed via a ten minute walk along the coast path and then via steps, so it is not the easiest beach to visit. Polstreath is a small sand and pebble cove backed by grassy cliffs with views towards Fowey and Chapel Point. Polstreath beach is a dog friendly beach in Cornwall and allows dogs all year. Park in Mevagissey and walk along the coast path to visit the beach and use facilities in Mevagissey, there are no facilities at Polstreath beach.

Mevagissey Cornwall

Portmelleon is a pretty small sandy beach beside Portmellon village. There is very limited parking on the street in the village or you could park in Mevagissey and walk along the coast path to Portmellon. Portmellon is a dog friendly beach in Cornwall and allows dogs other than from 1st July to 30 September.

In order to reach the small secluded beach of Colona you have to take a considerable walk along the coast path. Park in Mevagissey and walk from here. Colona is a dog friendly beach all year.

Polperro Cornwall

Lantic Bay Beach lets you enjoy a walk and a dog friendly beach. Getting to Lantic beach involves a walk and steep trek of about 20 mins down to the beach. The far reaching views from the top of the cliff are amazing and the sandy / shingle secluded beach is ideal for relaxing when you get there. Beware there is a strong strong rip current at Lantic Bay. Park at the National Trust car park about 1 mile out of Polruan and take the footpath across the road heading into a field. Polperro Cornwall

Talland Bay comprises two small beaches one of which is sandy and there are rock pools and coves to investigate. Found between Looe and Polperro there is limited parking. There is a beach cafe and ramp for launching boats. Talland Beach is a dog friendly beach all year and allows dogs on leads. Read more about Polperro Cornwall

Polperro Cornwall

Lansallos beach is a small sand and rock cove near to Pencarrow Head Polperro. On the East of the beach is a small waterfall called Reed Water which used to power a small mill. To visit Lansallos Beach you need to park by the Church and take about a twenty minutes stroll down an unmade footpath to the beach. Ideal for dog walking in Cornwall as you have a walk with beach which is dog friendly all year at the end.

Polperro Cornwall

Remote small beach with difficult access on the Coast Path between Polruan and Polperro . Lantivet Bay starts as a pebble beach turning into a Sandy beach with rocks. The beach is backed by cliffs. The beach is completely covered at high tide. The beach has no facilities, you need to walk along the Coast Path to get to it with car parking at Polruan or Lansallos.

Portscatho Roseland Peninsula Cornwall

Set in the heart of the working fishing village of Portscatho on the beautiful Roseland Peninsula, Portscatho beach is a small east facing beach offering a mix of sand and shingle.and stunning views. There are plenty of facilities in the village including toilets, pub, shops, cafes and galleries. No Lifeguard service. Dog restrictions apply from Easter to October. The South West Coast path passes through the village and provides access to other beaches such as Porthcurnick Beach, just less than a mile away which is dog friendly all year round.

Roseland Peninsula

Carne Beach is on the Roseland Peninsula and faces south. At low tide this is a nice sand and shale beach with rocks on both sides and Nare Head rising 300 feet above the beach. Carne beach is a dog friendly beach all year although note dogs must be kept on a lead on the beach in the summer months. Nice walking around the area.

Saltash Cornwall

Four miles of sand and rocks with shallow shelving beaches and rocky coves - note access from the parking areas is difficult down the cliff path with steps and uneven paths, also beware of the incoming tide as risk of being cut off. Four beaches make up Whitsand Bay. Tregonhawke is the main beach and has a cafe and toilets and the smaller beaches of Tregantle (occasionally closed if the MoD is using Tregantle Fort firing range) Freathy beach and Sharrow. All beaches have seasonal lifeguards and are dog friendly all year.

St Austell Area

Coombe Haven is a small National Trust cove of sand, shale and rocks backed by steep cliffs. A beautiful although not very accessible spot, you have to walk about 15 minutes through a steep wooded valley. Coombe Haven is a dog friendly beach all year. The beach is in the St Austell area near to Fowey . Unfortunately we have no information about parking or facilities. If anyone can provide these we would be very grateful.

St Austell Bay Cornwall

Porthpean beach is a sandy south facing beach overlooked by cliffs in St Austell Bay in South East Cornwall .Popular with families it offers swimming, windsurfing, sailing and space for beach games. The beach is home to Porthpean Sailing Club. There is a nice promenade walk with toilets, cafe and shop. There is a large privately owned car park. Access to the beach is on a steep incline from the car park. The beach is cleaned daily. No Lifeguard Service. Dogs welcome except between Easter and 30 September when a seasonal dog ban is in place. Porthpean Beach is a coastal walk of approximately one mile from the beautiful historic port of Charlestown Cornwall

St Austell Cornwall

Par Sands beach is between Fowey and St Austell. It is a large golden sandy beach on Cornwall's South Coast backed by grassy sand dunes. Par Beach has views of the Roseland Peninsula in the distance and old china clay works. According to one of our local users Par beach is a good dog friendly beach with dog friendly owners too. Par Beach is a dog friendly beach in Cornwall all year.

Hallane is a small rock and pebble beach accessed via steep stone steps and backed by cliffs with a lovely waterfall to one side. Nice views over the surrounding coastline. Portholland Beach is made up of two grey stone beaches backed by rocks. There is parking and toilets near to the beach and a cafe, also some locals sell tea and cakes from their houses. A dog friendly beach all year.
