Wadebridge Cornwall is a pleasant town to visit with a variety of shops and facilities. The main street runs up hill through the town and there are a number of pretty little squares and areas off the main street housing nice shops and cafes. There is paid for parking in the town which is signed.
The old railway line known as the Camel Trail runs from Padstow to Bodmin and passes through Wadebridge before continuing to Camelford making Wadebridge very poplar with cyclists and walkers out to enjoy this off road path. There is plenty of cycle hire in Wadebridge and it is a nice ride or walk along the Camel Trail along the estuary to Padstow Cornwall.
Wadebridge Cornwall was originally called simply Wade until the large bridge was built which still dominates Wadebridge as it rises across the river Camel. The bridge dates back to mediaeval times and is said to be one of the best examples of a medieval bridge in England, it was build in 1460s and those crossing it will be pleased to know has undergone strengthening works on a number of occasions since.
Wadebridge is home to the Royal Cornwall Show, one of Cornwall's biggest yearly events, which is a large agricultural show with a wide range of entertainment and activities and which is visited by thousands. The Show takes place in early summer usually in June.
Wadebridge is a nice town which is a good place to visit maybe have a walk around before moving onto the more famous Padstow Cornwall.
