Mousehole Cornwall

Mousehole harbour Mousehole Cornwall

The quaint harbour village of Mousehole is situated just 3 miles to the west of Penzance and is a lovely harbour village to visit. Cobbled narrow lanes set with granite and slate cottages spiral out from the traditional granite walled Cornish harbour. Although Mousehole harbour is not the busy fishing port it once was, there is still plenty of things to see and do in the picturesque village of Mousehole which is famous for Christmas lights, Tom Bawcock, the Mousehole Cat and Starry-Gazy Pie. Set on the edge of Mount’s Bay, Mousehole commands spectacular views over Mounts Bay and St Michael’s Mount. It is easy to spend a few hours simply wandering around the tiny streets and breathing in the village.

There are plenty of places to eat in Mousehole. The Old Coastguard on the road leading into Mousehole is a great place to eat, drink or sleep, offering a delicious seasonal menu, bar with wide drinks choice and the most amazing sea views. You will also find a pub which serves food, cafes, restaurants and fish and chips.

There are also galleries and craft shop many selling the work of local artists which are nice to look round and pick up some unusual presents or souvenirs. The village of Mousehole spreads out from the harbour and much of it is along the harbour edge and extending to a few streets back. Mousehole is definitely a lovely place to explore.

You can walk along the harbour wall at Mousehole and take in the glorious views out to see. There is also a walk alongside the beach from Mousehole heading towards Newlyn. When this ends if you want to walk all the way to Newlyn a pavement follows the road for most of the way and you can enjoy glorious views of Mount's Bay as you walk.

There is a small sandy beach by the harbour at Mousehole a pebble and stone beach on the Newlyn side of the village (which also has rustic open air sea filled swimming pool) and a smaller stone beach on the other side. Mousehole is not really a place in Cornwall you would visit for a day on the beach - the quite nearby beaches of Sennen or Marazion being more suited to this - but it is a very picturesque village to look round and good place to go for lunch or dinner.
