Penzance Cornwall Jubilee Pool

Penzance is one of my favourite Cornish towns. I have spent many a happy day here whatever the weather or my mood. With its commanding views over the inspiring Mount’s Bay Cornwall, historic market town centre, galleries, many places to eat, interesting buildings and Celtic surroundings, Penzance really does have something for everyone.

Penzance has a wide promanade running along the seafront which is nice for a stroll or a sit on one of the many benches. Look out for the dolphins following the fishing boats into nearby Newlyn Harbour - you may be lucky and see them. Across the road running beside the Penzance promanade you will find places to stop for food or a drink. You can also see the magnificent Jubilee Pool and maybe if you are brave pop in for a dip.

Penzance town centre is a busy shopping area with many high street names such as New Look, The Body Shop, Argos, Game, The Works and W H Smiths as well as lots of nice individual shops and galleries all with something different to look at. There are also lots of charity shops in Penzance.

The special light of Mount's Bay as well as St Michael's Mount have drawn artists to Penzance Cornwall and Mounts Bay Cornwall for centuries, not least those linked to the Newlyn School. You can view some of the art the area is so famous for at Penlee House which often displays the work of famous local artisits. Nearby Newlyn Gallery is also an option as is The Exchange Gallery Penzance for a more modern approach. For more information please see our list of Galleries in Cornwall.

Being only 10 miles from Land’s End Cornwall Penzance is also an excellent base to see the surrounding area, including Sennen Cornwall, The Minack Theatre and Porthcurno.

Cornish fishermen continue to fish around Mount’s Bay from the well used port of Newlyn which nestles to the side of Penzance, try to support them by looking out the restaurants and shops stocking local Cornish fish, a culinary delight!
