If you don't want to hit the surf find somewhere warm and dry and enjoy watching the experienced surfers ride the waves - there aren't many places in the UK where you can.

Find a good watch point with a sea view either inside a cozy cafe, pub or hotel or from your car and watch the wild sea and storm (obviously it should, but didn't in the storms this year, go without saying that if there are weather warnings in place or the weather is severe stay away from the coast and following issued warnings, they are not made just for fun)

Cornwall might not have any large city centres but it still has some good places to shop and has also maintained individual shops, which is nice to see and means a variety of things on offer. If the rain in Cornwall is not too heavy nipping in and out of the shops can be good fun. Truro has the biggest shopping. Penzance and St Austell also have a good variety of shops.
