One of the local village regattas unique to the River Fal Estuary, Loe Beach Regatta has been taking place continuously since the 19th Century, with the exception of the war years. Race Officer Richard Freeborn says "Racing is the very best way to get to know your boat, to find out how she handles, how well she sails, what you can do to make her go faster, and most importantly it gives you and your crew a great opportunity to work together with the added fun of being in a race. And what could be better than finishing the day with one of our famous Regatta Teas on Loe Beach, and maybe even pick up a prize!". We also have newly revised courses, with all racing now taking place in the top of the Carrick Roads. Regatta Teas are available from the marquee after the race. Indoor and outdoor, weather permitting, farmers market event in Cornwall. Facing the Atlantic and a mile from Lands End, Sennen Cornwall is the most westerly village in the country. Centuries ago, the Cove was at the centre of the pilchard fishing industry and also had a notorious reputation as a base for smugglers and wreckers. Today Sennen is known for its RNLI lifeboat station, for the glorious west facing sweep of Whitesand Bay, for its rugged scenery and great surf. Very much at the heart of the local community, Sennen Market opened in May 2009 to provide an outlet for the areas wide range of local produce. The market was voted as Cornwalls Farmers Market of the year 2010. Hugely popular with tourists in high season, the market is also a focus for the local community as a meeting place for residents of all ages. With all sorts of delicious things to eat, the stallholders at Sennen Farmers Market offer a variety of local food, plants and herbs, cards, jewellery, wood carving and other Cornish crafts.
