West Cornwall has a hugh variety of places to eat and drink and also to buy food to cook yourself. We have set out a list of places to eat in West Cornwall below but first we give our suggestions of places to try.

Local Cornish fish is a good thing to try in Cornwall. There are fish mongers in Newlyn Cornwall opposite the harbour if you fancy cooking some Cornish fish for yourself or even taking it home with you (they will package it in cool boxes fit for traveling).

Trevaskis Farm, at Gwinear near Hayle is also great for buying food in Cornwall. They stock lots of local products, rear their own meat, offer a "pick you own" option at the right seasonal times and also have a restaurant which does particularly good Sunday Lunch and gorgeous puddings.

The Dolphin Inn in Penzance (opposite the Scillonian docking point) serves some local fish dishes, and a wide variety of other dishes, including a good vegetarian selection, dogs are also welcome here. For the ultimate in fish restaurants try the Seafood Cafe on St Ives Cornwall main street or the Old Lifeboat Station at Coverack (seasonal opening) on the Lizard Peninsula, both specialise in fresh fish and cook it to order. The fish and chip shop at Lizard village offer a good selection of local Cornish fish and usually have something different to try from the usual cod such as Pollock, sole or even scallops.

The Godolphin Arms at Marazion Cornwall has a great view of St Michael's Mount and Mount's Bay and so you can enjoy eating or a drink with a wonderful view (dog friendly). Talking of views, The Old Coastguard at Mousehole has large windows with fantastic views of the sea and Mount's Bay.

For a quick snack or drink the little open air cafe in Portreath right on the harbour wall is a good place to eat out in Cornwall for drinks or meals with chips to take away or eat at the outside tables watching the sea. The take-away at Pothgwidden beach St Ives is also a great place to eat in Cornwall. Both dog friendly.

We want to grow our list of places to eat in Cornwall and so If you would like to recommend somewhere or would like us to list your details please contact us at enquiries@allaboutcornwall.com.
