A series of very special Christmas events in Cornwall. Light Up a Life is one of Cornwall Hospices best loved and most meaningful community events during which people can come together to cherish and celebrate the memories of those we have lost. Each service features carols, readings and prayers. Lights on a Tree of Life will symbolise the lives of the special people we are remembering. Light Up a Life gives people the opportunity to remember their loved ones by placing their names in one of our remembrance books (you can do this online) and attending one of our dedication services.

Services this year will be at St Julias Hospice, Truro Cathedral, St Mary's Parish Curch Launceston, Chapel Street Methodist Church Penzance and Mount Edgcumbe Hospice. At the end of each service the lights on the tree will be lit as a symbol of remembrance.

Light Up a Life is open to anyone, there does not have to have been a connection to either of the hospices, it is an opportunity for people in Cornwall to come together in the spirit of remembrance at Christmas time. The Truro Light Up a LIfe Service will take place on Thursday 1st December 2016 at 7pm

Indoor and outdoor, weather permitting, farmers market event in Cornwall. Facing the Atlantic and a mile from Lands End, Sennen Cornwall is the most westerly village in the country. Today Sennen is known for its RNLI lifeboat station, for the glorious west facing sweep of Whitesand Bay, for its rugged scenery and great surf. Very much at the heart of the local community, Sennen Market opened in May 2009 to provide an outlet for the areas wide range of local produce. Hugely popular with tourists in high season, the market is also a focus for the local community as a meeting place for residents of all ages. Indoor and outdoor, weather permitting, farmers market event in Cornwall. Facing the Atlantic and a mile from Lands End, Sennen Cornwall is the most westerly village in the country. Centuries ago, the Cove was at the centre of the pilchard fishing industry and also had a notorious reputation as a base for smugglers and wreckers. The market was voted as Cornwalls Farmers Market of the year 2010. Hugely popular with tourists in high season, the market is also a focus for the local community as a meeting place for residents of all ages. With all sorts of delicious things to eat, the stallholders at Sennen Farmers Market offer a variety of local food, plants and herbs, cards, jewellery, wood carving and other Cornish crafts. Visit Wheal Martyn and discover an exhibition celebrating the work and life of renowned local poet and writer, Jack Clemo. The exhibition event in Cornwall, which will be on display from 7 November until June, will feature original artefacts from Clemo's home that are now cared for by the museum. This exhibition tells the story of Jack Clemo (1916-94), a man who lived most of his life in the heart of the clay country, inspired by its landscape and industry. It will tell of the tragedy of his early years, his physical decline, as well as his literary rise and of those who influenced his life. Most of all, it will paint a picture of a man who defied adversity to become one of the most original literary figures of his time. Dogs on leads are welcome at Wheal Martyn but may not be allowed in exhibition areas. Enquiries tel 01726 850362 email info@wheal-martyn.com
