Mousehole Christmas Lights are a delight to see and really put you in the Christmas spirit. The whole harbour comes alight with a pretty display including displays in the harbour water. Mousehole itself is a lovely village to visit, a magical evening out. Mousehole Cornwall - West Cornwall The beautiful Christmas Lights at Padstow are switched on the first Sunday in Advent. The Padstow Christmas Lights will be turned on from about 6pm. To accompany the switch on and get everyone in the Christmas spirit there will also be a carol service performed by the Padstow Carolers on the band stand. The Padstow Christmas Lights are a real Christmas treat, there are pretty lights all around the harbour and floating in the harbour water taking various forms including a whale, boat and Christmas trees to name a few.
Padstow Cornwall - North Cornwall Wonderful family friendly event in Mousehole this Christmas in Cornwall. Throughout December the Dream Team present a magical puppet and live action production of Antonia Barber's classic children's story, The Mousehole Cat, in the newly refurbished Solomon Browne Memorial Hall, Mousehole - the villages former pilchard works. Following a sold out Summer tour this re-imagined festive production will be performed entirely in the round and features a live acoustic soundtrack composed and played by local guitarist Scott Fleming. Families will have time to marvel at Mousehole's spectacular Christmas lights display before taking their seats to hear how this West Cornwall village was saved from desperate famine by the brave actions of fisherman, Tom Bawcock, and his faithful cat, Mowzer. Based on a well-known Cornish legend this heart warming story of the friendship between a fearless fisherman and his devoted cat is sure to warm the cockles of your heart almost as much as a 'efty portion of stargazy pie! The Mousehole Cat runs for three weeks from 17 December in the heart of Mousehole alongside the villages annual Christmas illuminations. This festive show lasts for approximately one hour allowing families to soak up the atmosphere of Cornwall's most famous Christmas light display and enjoy a live performance all in one evening. Seal mating season begins around September time, this also coincides with rougher seas and storms approaching. What this means is that during this time we get a lot of seal pup call outs. The BDMLR, the RSPCA and the Cornish Seal Sanctuary rescue between 40 and 60 pups each year. As the leading Seal Rescue Centre in Europe and the only one in Cornwall we then become home to these pups while they are rehabilitated until they are ready for release. The team here provides round-the-clock care throughout the 'pup rescue season' (usually September - March) to get them back to full health so they can go back out into the wild where they should be. Our hospital and pools will be full and it's the perfect time to for a visit. The Seal Sanctuary is dog friendly. Mullion Methodist Church, Mullion, Cornwall - West Cornwall Community event in Cornwall clearing the beach at Tregantle of microplastics. Tregantle beach, along with many others in our area and Cornwall, has been covered in microplastics over the past few weeks. Microplastics are really hard to remove - but deadly for wildlife. The MoD contractors focus on removing the large pieces of plastic waste, so let's see what we can do about picking up as much as possible of this tiny stuff. If you can, please bring a dustpan and brush - one of the best ways of picking up this stuff (as long as you brush gently and don't get panfuls of sand!!). We'll bring some sieves and tubs too. Meet at 2pm at the gate from the road down to the beach. All equipment provided (apart from pans and brushes!) The forecast is looking pretty grim but your help would be much appreciated if you can spare an hour!
