Sculpture exhibition event Cornwall at the National Maritime Museum by their first ever 'artist in residence. Rob Johnsey, a boatbuilder and sculptor, is a long serving and dedicated member of the Museum team, having volunteered for our Boat Collection team for over 10 years. The exhibition is called 'Skeleton - New sculptures inspired by old boats' and is a solo show of new sculptural works inspired by historic boats and other forms in the Museum's collections. Rob works mostly in wood and the exhibition provides a tactile and visually appealing experience, and a new way to engage with historic boats from Cornwall and around the world, showcasing Rob's skill and artistic flair with wood and 3-D forms. It also takes a look at the process of making sculpture. All works are available for sale.

Indoor and outdoor weather permitting, farmers market event in Cornwall. Facing the Atlantic and a mile from Lands End, Sennen is the most westerly village in the country. Centuries ago, the Cove was at the centre of the pilchard fishing industry and also had a notorious reputation as a base for smugglers and wreckers. Today Sennen is known for its RNLI lifeboat station, for the glorious west facing sweep of Whitesand Bay, for its rugged scenery and great surf. Very much at the heart of the local community, Sennen Market opened in May 2009 to provide an outlet for the areas wide range of local produce. The market was voted as Cornwalls Farmers Market of the year 2010. Hugely popular with tourists in high season, the market is also a focus for the local community as a meeting place for residents of all ages. With all sorts of delicious things to eat, the stallholders at Sennen Farmers Market offer a variety of local food, plants and herbs, cards, jewellery, wood carving and other Cornish crafts.

Whats on in Cornwall this week for theatre lovers! On 19th and 20th March, the BTEC Music, Performing Arts and Arts Award Students at Bodmin College will be staging one of their biggest projects ever - the hit Broadway Musical - Avenue Q. Avenue Q is the story of Princeton, a bright-eyed college graduate who comes to New York with big dreams and a tiny bank balance. He soon discovers that the only neighborhood in his price range is Avenue Q. Still, the neighbours seem nice, if a little dysfunctional. Together, Princeton and new new found friends struggle to find jobs, dates and their ever-elusive purpose in life. The students have been working hard on this production and it is presented in the style of an episode of Sesame Street. Yes, with puppets which have all been made by staff at the college along with the help of the Bodmin Gaol Birds WI, and Arts clubs at the college at the Warehouse Arts Centre. Adaptions have been made to the original text to make it appropriate for secondary school and college performance. The production is fast and furious and guaranteed to be a great evening filled with raucous laughter! So, if you are looking for things to do in Cornwall this week and enjoy a laugh come and support the students and find out for yourselves what all the 'fuzz' is about! Its just like your life, only funnier.

To reserve tickets please call the college on 01208 72114 or email KEB@bodmincollege.co.uk or VB@bodmincollege.co.uk
