Indoor and outdoor, weather permitting, farmers market event in Cornwall. Facing the Atlantic and a mile from Lands End, Sennen is the most westerly village in the country. Centuries ago, the Cove was at the centre of the pilchard fishing industry and also had a notorious reputation as a base for smugglers and wreckers. Today Sennen is known for its RNLI lifeboat station, for the glorious west facing sweep of Whitesand Bay, for its rugged scenery and great surf. Very much at the heart of the local community, Sennen Market opened in May 2009 to provide an outlet for the areas wide range of local produce. The market was voted as Cornwalls Farmers Market of the year 2010. Hugely popular with tourists in high season, the market is also a focus for the local community as a meeting place for residents of all ages. With all sorts of delicious things to eat, the stallholders at Sennen Farmers Market offer a variety of local food, plants and herbs, cards, jewellery, wood carving and other Cornish crafts. Celebrating the end of winter and beginning of Spring this May tradition sees the of Helston Cornwall dressed in greenery, flowers and flags and dancers accompanied by the town band dancing in a procession through the streets at certain times throughout the day. At Midday the elegant dance leaves the Guildhall just as the Town Clock strikes twelve. The men dressed in top hats and tails escort their colourful and beautifully dressed ladies in the steps of the processional dance, weaving through the streets and buildings to the delight of the vast crowds.

The heroes of the day are of course the Helston Town Band who play the traditional tune as only they know how. The streets of Helston echo to the sounds of enjoyment and happiness in celebration of a tradition that is steeped in history and receives such support and enthusiasm. Helston family members and friends will travel the world to be in the town for May 8th. We will welcome you to come and join them for this great traditional family event in Cornwall

Cheer Sean Conway as he bids to complete the Ultimate British Triathlon - from John O'Groats to Land's End Cornwall. Looks like a fun, family friendly event in Cornwall to celebrate a great achievement. Discovery Channel is following Sean every step of the way for a special documentary to be shown this June and this is the big finale so don't miss your chance to be there for it - you may even end up on TV! For those who feel confident and fit enough for it, there will be the opportunity to run part of Sean's last mile alongside him but please note that the route is a rocky path and any participants will run at their own risk. If you do plan on coming to meet Sean, it would be great if you could let him or Discovery Channel know by sending a tweet using #runwithsean.

One of the great family things to do in Cornwall this weekend is to join the Seaside Walk at St Ives. Seaside Walk Week is a fantastic opportunity to explore the Great British coast and raise funds to enable struggling families to benefit from a simple break by the sea. Organised by the Family Holiday Association, Seaside Walk Week (23-31 May) comprises a series of guided walks from two to twelve miles. Our St Ives walks start and finish at HF Holidays Chy Morvah, with the long and the short walk taking different routes that stretch across the coastline, the trails leading to and offering views of Carbis Bay, the South West Coast Path, the Promontory of Carrick Gladden, and the Middle Ages seaport village of Lelant.

We'll walk at a relaxed pace, spending time at places along the route, the paths and gradients are generally easy. Refreshments will be provided at the finish. Each walk costs just £15 per adult, £5 for children aged 5 to 16, and under-fives go free. Visit SeasideWalkWeek.org.uk to register and for more information.

The details for the St. Ives walk are: Date: Saturday 23rd May. Start point is at HF Holidays The Chy Morvah St Ives, TR26 2DB Short walk: start 1.00pm and approx. finish 4.00pm. Long walk: start 12.00 noon and approx. finish 4.00pm. Booking info Visit SeasideWalkWeek.org.uk to register and for more information.
