With only 6 days until they leave, entrants to this year's Vegas or Bust Charity Banger Rally will display their cars in St Austell town centre on Saturday 1st October. 10-20 cars will provide a static display in Fore Street & White River Place. The cars are part of the 100 plus Banger fleet that will be travelling to Vegas in Spain later in the week as part of St Austell Round Table's annual Banger Rally Challenge raising money for six local charities. Over the last five years the Rally has visited many European cities such as Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Rome, Pula Croatia and last year’s final destination Salo in the Italian lakes. So far it has raised an unbelievable £500,000 for local and national charities during its short history. The six Charities that benefit from this infamous community event are: Children's Hospice South West, Cornwall Hospice Care, Cornwall Air Ambulance, Merlin MS Centre, Marie Curie Cancer Care and Turn to Starboard. This year the rally is off to Spain under the title 'Vegas or Bust'. Currently 100 cars have entered with over 400 people taking part. Each car is to have a value of no more than £500-£600, teams decorate their vehicles and travel in fancy dress. Local businesses sponsor prizes for best car, fancy dress etc. and there are daily challenge trials for the competitors to win more donations from the sponsors along the way. The main sponsors of this year's Rally are Driveline GB Ltd a St Austell based Van & Truck Rental Company. Other sponsors include South Westerly, Leap, Once I've Gone, Boscundle Manor, Mortgage Works, GoJute International, St Austell Printing Company, Parklands Toyota, The Cornwall Hotel & Spa and the Utility Warehouse. All the Ralliers ask is that you take along some pennies to either event for their collections and support this fantastic event and help them reach this year's goal.

One of the things to do in Cornwall this weekend for those who enjoy live theatre and spooky tales! Sexy, bloody, funny.. South West venues host provocative new all-female adaptation of Bram Stoker's "Dracula". A horde of female vampires will descend upon the South West this October as Sterts, Liskeard and the Northcott, Exeter play host to an audacious new all female adaptation of Bram Stoker's Gothic classic "Dracula". Entitled "Dracula: The Kisses.." the show is being produced by theatre company Scary Little Girls following a hugely successful national tour and sell out run at the Edinburgh Festival. Strictly limited to three nights only, 2nd and 3rd of October at Sterts 6th of October at Northcott, theatregoers can catch a glimpse of the all -female cast that played to packed houses at Cornwall's magnificent Minack Theatre last year. Scary Little Girls Artistic Director Rebecca Mordan says "Bram Stoker's' original Gothic tale is a ripping good yarn that's packed to the brim with sex, vampires, power struggles, seduction, lust, gender politics and the supernatural. It's also a classic piece of Victorian fin de siecle literature and one of the most enduringly popular myths ever created. Each generation can find something new in this universe, and for us, this means making it true for women today..." The actress playing Dracula has been confirmed as Illona Linthwaite, who is famous for her performances in "Outskirts" by Hanif Kureishi for the Royal Shakespeare Company and "Phaedra Britannica" by Tony Harrison for the National Theatre. "We're all very excited and focused on creating an ambience that is charged with electricity to give us a brooding, menacing and chilling atmosphere." said Rebecca. "Dracula: The Kisses.." will run at 8pm at the Sterts Theatre and Arts Centre in Liskeard for two nights only 2nd and 3rd October 2015. Tickets are priced at £10 adults and £8 concessions. To book your seats please contact the Sterts box office on 0157 936 2382. Also for 1 day only at Northcott, Exeter on Oct 6th contact the Sterts box office on 01392 726363.
