Culdrose Air Day Event Cornwall 2016

Culdrose Air Day Event a great Whats On In Cornwall

Culdrose Air Day 2016 will be held on Thursday 28th July 2016.

Exciting all day event in Cornwall for all the family on the beautiful Lizard peninsula. The Royal Naval Air Station at Culdrose open its gates to welcome everyone to come and meet the Fleet Air Arm, the Royal Navy flying force, at the 2016 Culdrose Air Day. Air Day is the only day of the year when the public can step into the world of Culdrose and experience the sights and sounds of a working military Naval Air Station.

Famed for heroic rescues, and with frontline helicopter Squadrons supporting the Navy across the globe, Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose is home to a variety of military aircraft including Merlin and Sea King helicopters, Hawk Jets, and the King Air 350 Avengers.

You will be blown away by awesome flying displays, be able to meet the heroic Aircrew who fly our helicopters around the world, get up close to state of the art aircraft and learn all about life in the Royal Navy. MORE than just an airshow!

Culdrose Air Day should be a thoroughly enjoyable day out for the whole family, that includes the big kids and those young at heart too.

There will be an opportunity for aircraft enthusiasts to visit RNAS Culdrose on the afternoon prior to Air Day for a special event to view the participating aircraft up close without the crowds. You can view aircraft used for training, aranged on the Dummy Flight Deck, and witness any rehearsals taking place. Attendance at this event is strictly by prior arrangement and on production of a pre paid ticket only. All attendees need to be aged 18 or over. There will be a limited number of tickets available and these will be issued on a first come, first served, basis so you have to book early to avoid disappointment - see their website for more details.

The Culdrose Air Day event in Cornwall, has become a firm favourite on the Cornish Event Calendar, it enables the general public to experience the sights and sounds of one of Europe’s largest helicopter bases, whilst seeing a fantastic Air Display in the skies.  It’s the only day of the year when the public can ‘experience the world of Culdrose’ and see what happens behind the security gates.

The Commanding Officer of Culdrose, Captain Mark Garratt said: “Now that we have been given the official go ahead to hold an Air Day, my team are already starting to book aircraft for the Air Display and are working hard to make it a day to remember.  This year should be a really special event, with some very special visitors.”

He added:”Often our Air Day is the only opportunity for non-military personnel to come inside the gates of Culdrose and see what a Naval Air Station is really like.  The public will be able to meet those who serving on frontline Squadrons, learn about our outstanding training facilities, jump inside one of our aircraft and learn about the Operations that we have been involved in recently.”

For more information about the event and a list of display aircraft will be available soon at www.culdroseairday.com
