If you are wondering whats on in Cornwall this weekend consider the Falmouth Classics 2018 which offers Good Company, Good Entertainment and Good Sailing.

Three races are planned for the event in Cornwall, together with a splendid parade of all participating boats (in 2016 there were 184 participants and in 2017 there were 212 participants). All races will start in The Carrick Roads. Depending on entries there will be several classes which will start at five minute intervals. Participating boats will cross a start line marked by a Committee Boat and an outer distance mark. The start line will probably require boats to start by sailing close hauled. Races will last approximately 2 hours. The finish, for each race, is likely to be off Trefusis Point. The courses chosen by the race officer will be dependent on wind direction and the tide, some courses may take vessels out into Falmouth Bay. Good places to watch the racing will be Pendennis Point, Trefusis Point, Castle Drive, the coastal footpath between Place and St Anthony's Lighthouse and St Mawes Castle. The Parade of Sail can best be watched from Castle Drive, Pendennis Point, Pendennis Castle and St Mawes Castle.

There is no charge for the majority of events organised, but this is your festival and we rely on you to keep it alive, so please support the events, enter the Carnival and give generously to the collectors during the week. One of the local village regattas unique to the River Fal Estuary, Loe Beach Regatta has been taking place continuously since the 19th Century, with the exception of the war years. Race Officer Richard Freeborn says "Racing is the very best way to get to know your boat, to find out how she handles, how well she sails, what you can do to make her go faster, and most importantly it gives you and your crew a great opportunity to work together with the added fun of being in a race. And what could be better than finishing the day with one of our famous Regatta Teas on Loe Beach, and maybe even pick up a prize!". We also have newly revised courses, with all racing now taking place in the top of the Carrick Roads. Regatta Teas are available from the marquee after the race.
